Super Bowl Sunday is fast approaching which means it is time for the revealing of some of the most high profile commercials of the year. The 2016 Super Bowl marks the seventh year of Kia’s participation in the annual ad battle, and this year we are joined by none other than Academy Award-winning actor Christopher Walken. As one of the most renowned actors in Hollywood, Mr. Walken shines gloriously in his performance as a quirky closet invader, sock connoisseur, and Kia spokesperson in the newly revealed spot for the 2016 Kia Optima.
“There are two types of people in the world,” Mr. Walken proclaims, those “content to blend in, these people who walk through life like beige socks” and “those who expect more.” With the snap of his fingers, the Walken closet opens to reveal the all-new Kia Optima and the actor continues his monologue with an amusing metaphor that likens the Optima to a colorful pair of socks: “It’s the new Kia Optima. It’s like the world’s most exciting pair of socks but it’s a midsize sedan.”
Mr. Walken’s delivery is hilariously underwhelming but his point is crystal clear. The Kia Optima is not your ordinary run-of-the-mill midsize sedan. Passionately designed and meticulously crafted, the next generation Optima boasts upgraded handling characteristics and a luxurious cabin interior and is expected to devour its ‘beige sock’ competition in the midsize sedan segment. True to Mr. Walken’s words, the all-new Kia Optima refuses to be ordinary.

The 60-second spot is set to broadcast during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl 50 championship game on February 7 and Christopher Walken’s performance is already generating quite the excitement among global audiences.
