As we begin the month of April, Kia Motors has reached yet another meaningful milestone. Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG), our first manufacturing site in North America, has finally hit the two millionth production mark!
The two millionth vehicle was a beautiful white 2016 Sorento SXL. Fresh off the assembly line, the car of the hour was greeted warmly by members of KMMG and Georgia citizens of who gathered to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
KMMG team members celebrate production of the plant’s two millionth vehicle.
This feat by KMMG, achieved in under seven years since the opening of the plant in 2009, is a significant accomplishment that represents the hard work and commitment of Kia employees. Today KMMG represents a hefty investment of more than $1.1 billion USD and is responsible for the creation of 15,000 jobs in the surrounding area. And with its highest-ever ranking in the 2016 J.D. Power & Associates’ Initial Quality Study, the plant has earned a place among the top five vehicle assembly plants in the United States.
Congratulations to KMMG! We look forward to more good news and achievements in the future!
