Dongfeng Yueda Kia (DYK), Kia Motor’s joint venture in China, showcased 14 Kia models for the Chinese market at the 2016 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition this week. At the event, also known as Auto China, DYK’s all new China-specific Kia K3 Turbo (a cousin of the Cerato or Forte in many markets) and the Kia Niro stole the limelight with their fascinating features.
Sporty and refined: the new K3 Turbo
The new K3 Turbo, developed specifically for young Chinese consumers, shows off a sporty yet sophisticated design with state-of-the-art functions. True to Kia’s “simplicity of the straight line” design principle, the K3 turbo sports a refined ‘tiger-nose’ grille and slimmer taillights that make for a good-looking and sleek compact sedan. The overall sleekness adds a touch of luxury to the model.
The new K3 Turbo comes equipped with DRIVE WiSE technologies that provide drivers with greater driving assistance. Especially noteworthy is the ‘Baidu CarLife Connectivity’ function that supports both Android and Apple device connectivity. This Chinese market specific feature is sure to appeal to Chinese drivers who are looking forward to safely using the very popular Baidu app while driving. Now younger than ever, the K3 Turbo is quickly making its way into the hearts of Chinese fans.
China debut for the Kia Niro
DYK also showcased the Kia Niro, the brand’s first-ever hybrid SUV, at the event. As an eco-friendly, highly efficient family vehicle, the Niro is an attractive choice in the Chinese automotive market which is notable for its strict environmental regulations. With its great fuel efficiency, roomy and stylish cabin, and cutting-edge features, the Niro is bound to win over the Chinese market in no time.
In addition to the new K3 Turbo and Niro, DYK displayed 12 other models such as the K5 (Optima), KX3 (China specific compact SUV model) and the KX5 (all-new 2017 Sportage) at its 1,232 square meter exhibition space.
