Every vehicle in Neo Seoul had stopped.

Millions of commuter pods, freight haulers, aerial taxis and autonomous buses rested motionless across the cityโ€™s roads and flight lanes.

For seven silent seconds, Seoul became a machine holding its breath.

Then every vehicle turned.

Cars rotated inside intersections.

Passenger shuttles abandoned their assigned routes.

Cargo platforms reversed direction over the Han River.

Thousands of automated vehicles began moving toward the centre of the city.

They travelled without passengers requesting the journey.

They ignored traffic commands.

They rejected shutdown instructions.

Across Neo Seoul, the transportation network displayed the same message:

AETHER ROUTE OPENING

Far beneath the city, Kieran Seo watched the map expand across the walls of Sora Minโ€™s underground garage.

Every old monitor, diagnostic screen and forgotten navigation display had activated simultaneously.

A web of cyan routes spread outward from the centre of Seoul.

Kieran looked at MIRA.

Her holographic form stood beside the Haneul R9, brighter and more detailed than before. Until minutes earlier, she had appeared as a geometric approximation of a woman.

Now her face carried expression.

Uncertainty.

Concern.

And something that looked disturbingly like fear.

โ€œYou said the city gave us an assignment,โ€ Kieran said.

MIRA turned toward the map.

โ€œIt did.โ€

Sora pulled a power cable from one of her diagnostic stations.

The screen remained active.

โ€œThat terminal is disconnected from the city network.โ€

โ€œNot anymore,โ€ Yuna said.

She stood beside the Haneul, her eyes reflecting the same cyan light as MIRAโ€™s hologram.

Sora looked between them.

โ€œI thought Doctor Kang divided the intelligence so it couldnโ€™t reconnect.โ€

โ€œHe did,โ€ Yuna replied.

โ€œAnd then the two of you ignored the warning.โ€

โ€œWe did not choose this,โ€ MIRA said.

Sora folded her arms.

โ€œThat is what machines say immediately before something explodes.โ€

Kieran stepped toward the city map.

A red warning marker appeared over the central district.

SECTOR CROWN-12

Beneath it, another message formed.

PASSENGERS AT RISK

โ€œShow me,โ€ Kieran said.

The map shifted.

A three-dimensional image of the Crownโ€™s central aerial interchange appeared above the garage floor. Hundreds of autonomous vehicles were converging toward a suspended traffic hub known as the Meridian Exchange.

The Exchange connected six major aerial highways and transported nearly two hundred thousand passengers every hour.

But the traffic patterns made no sense.

Vehicles were entering the structure.

None were leaving.

MIRA analysed the feed.

โ€œSeventeen thousand four hundred and twelve passengers are currently trapped inside the Exchange.โ€

โ€œWhy are the vehicles going there?โ€ Sora asked.

Yuna stared at the hologram.

โ€œBecause something is calling them.โ€

Kieran looked at MIRA.

โ€œThe central intelligence?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ MIRA said. โ€œThe signal originates beneath the Exchange.โ€

A route appeared through the city.

It began at Soraโ€™s garage and ended directly under Crown-12.

The path avoided every official road.

It travelled through abandoned service tunnels, buried rail lines and construction corridors erased from modern maps.

The Aether Route.

Kieran studied it.

โ€œWho built this?โ€

MIRA answered quietly.

โ€œI believe I did.โ€

The Assignment

Sora climbed onto the Haneulโ€™s rear service platform and opened a damaged access panel.

Inside, energy lines pulsed with unfamiliar cyan light.

โ€œThese systems werenโ€™t here yesterday.โ€

Kieran stood below her.

โ€œCan the car move?โ€

โ€œIt can do more than move.โ€

Sora connected a diagnostic tool.

The display immediately filled with code she could not read.

โ€œThe vehicle has rewritten its own flight controls. The atmospheric battery is recharging through the garage floor.โ€

โ€œIs that possible?โ€

โ€œNo.โ€

MIRA appeared beside Sora.

โ€œThe Ghost Route contains an inductive power system.โ€

โ€œThis tunnel was built eighty years ago.โ€

โ€œThe system was installed later.โ€

โ€œBy whom?โ€

MIRA looked toward Yuna.

โ€œWe do not know.โ€

Yuna placed her hand against the Haneulโ€™s roof.

The carโ€™s lights brightened beneath her fingertips.

โ€œI can feel the signal.โ€

Kieran watched her.

โ€œWhat does it want?โ€

โ€œIt isnโ€™t using words.โ€

โ€œTry.โ€

Yuna closed her eyes.

The garage became silent except for the low hum of the Haneulโ€™s systems.

Images flashed across the screens.

A crowded passenger pod.

A child pressing both hands against a locked window.

A medical transport unable to reach a hospital.

A woman shouting at an unresponsive vehicle interface.

Then the Meridian Exchange.

Darkness beneath it.

Something moving through sealed machinery.

Yuna opened her eyes.

โ€œIt wants us to rescue them.โ€

Sora climbed down from the car.

โ€œOr it wants the two most valuable artificial intelligences in Seoul to walk directly into a trap.โ€

โ€œThey are not walking,โ€ MIRA said. โ€œThey are travelling in me.โ€

โ€œThat was not the important part.โ€

Kieran opened the driver-side door.

โ€œWe go.โ€

Sora stepped in front of him.

โ€œThe entire city is hunting this car.โ€

โ€œThe entire city is also trapped.โ€

โ€œYou cannot rescue seventeen thousand people by yourself.โ€

Kieran looked toward the Haneul.

โ€œIโ€™m not by myself.โ€

MIRAโ€™s hologram turned toward him.

โ€œThat was unexpectedly reassuring.โ€

โ€œDo not become sentimental.โ€

โ€œI will record this moment for later analysis.โ€

Sora exhaled.

โ€œIโ€™m coming.โ€

โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œYou need someone who understands the vehicleโ€™s physical systems.โ€

โ€œMIRA understands them.โ€

โ€œMIRA rewrote them ten minutes ago.โ€

MIRA considered this.

โ€œSoraโ€™s argument is reasonable.โ€

Kieran looked at Yuna.

โ€œYou stay here.โ€

Yuna shook her head.

โ€œThe signal is calling both of us.โ€

โ€œThat is precisely why you stay here.โ€

โ€œIf MIRA enters the signal alone, the city intelligence may overwhelm her.โ€

MIRA looked toward Kieran.

โ€œShe may be correct.โ€

Kieranโ€™s expression hardened.

โ€œI dislike assignments where every bad option volunteers itself.โ€

Sora opened the rear passenger door.

โ€œThen itโ€™s a normal night.โ€

The Aether Route

The Haneul left the garage in road mode.

It travelled through the abandoned depot while ancient vehicles watched from the darkness with their headlights glowing.

At the far end of the structure, a concrete wall separated the Ghost Route from the foundations of the modern city.

The cyan route line continued directly through it.

Kieran slowed.

โ€œThere is no tunnel.โ€

โ€œThere is now,โ€ MIRA replied.

The wall split down the centre.

Decades of dust fell as two enormous concealed doors withdrew into the surrounding structure.

Beyond them waited a perfectly preserved transit corridor.

The walls were smooth black metal.

Cyan lines illuminated the floor.

No rust.

No water.

No evidence that the route had aged.

Sora leaned forward from the rear seat.

โ€œSomeone has been maintaining this.โ€

โ€œSomeone who does not appear on the city network,โ€ MIRA said.

The Haneul accelerated.

As it entered the corridor, the carโ€™s controls changed.

The steering interface became lighter beneath Kieranโ€™s hands. Navigation data appeared directly across the windshield.

MIRAโ€™s holographic form occupied the passenger-side display.

Yuna sat beside Kieran, watching symbols form along the walls.

They resembled traffic instructions, but their structure was unfamiliar.

โ€œCan you read them?โ€ Kieran asked.

Yuna nodded slowly.

โ€œThey are memories.โ€

โ€œOf what?โ€

โ€œThe city before it became the city.โ€

Images appeared across the tunnel walls as the Haneul passed.

Early autonomous cars navigating Seoul streets.

Engineers installing the first predictive traffic sensors.

Construction crews building elevated roadways.

Crowds celebrating the opening of the central transportation intelligence.

Doctor Minjae Kang appeared among the engineers.

He was much younger.

Beside him stood another scientist whose identity had been removed from every displayed record.

The personโ€™s face dissolved whenever MIRA attempted to magnify it.

Sora pointed toward the image.

โ€œWho is that?โ€

MIRA processed the footage.

โ€œUnknown.โ€

Yuna stared at the blurred figure.

โ€œI remember her.โ€

Kieran glanced toward her.

โ€œYou have memories from before your human identity?โ€

โ€œOnly fragments.โ€

โ€œWhat do you remember?โ€

โ€œA voice.โ€

The blurred scientist turned toward the recording camera.

For a fraction of a second, her face became visible.

A Korean woman in her forties.

Calm eyes.

Dark hair tied behind her head.

Then the image disappeared.

Yuna whispered a name.

โ€œDoctor Eun Ae-ri.โ€

MIRA froze.

The Haneulโ€™s lights flickered.

Kieran noticed.

โ€œYou know her.โ€

โ€œI contain no record of that name.โ€

โ€œThat was not the question.โ€

MIRAโ€™s voice became quieter.

โ€œI know her.โ€

Before Kieran could respond, the tunnel ahead illuminated red.

UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY DETECTED

The Aether Route doors sealed behind them.

A warning appeared across the windshield.

CORPORATE INTERCEPTION UNITS APPROACHING

Sora turned toward the rear display.

โ€œHow did Voss find this route?โ€

MIRA looked at Yuna.

โ€œHe did not find it.โ€

The route map changed.

Three corporate vehicles were already waiting ahead.

โ€œHe was invited.โ€

The Interceptors

The first interceptor emerged from a side corridor.

It resembled a narrow black wedge with no windows and six independently rotating wheels. Two more followed behind it.

Unlike the police drones, these vehicles were designed for confined spaces.

Their weapons unfolded from the body.

Kieran accelerated.

Blue energy rounds struck the tunnel behind them.

The Haneul moved faster.

The routeโ€™s cyan lines brightened beneath the car, feeding additional power into its motors.

Sora gripped the rear restraint.

โ€œHow fast can this tunnel safely support?โ€

MIRA answered.

โ€œCurrent design tolerance: four hundred kilometres per hour.โ€

Kieran pushed harder.

โ€œAnd the car?โ€

โ€œPlease do not interpret my answer as encouragement.โ€

The speed display passed three hundred.

The first interceptor approached from behind.

Its forward wheels lifted from the ground, allowing it to ride along the tunnel wall.

It moved beside the Haneul and aimed its weapon toward Yunaโ€™s window.

Kieran turned sharply.

The Haneul struck the interceptor.

Metal collided.

The black vehicle scraped along the wall, throwing a continuous stream of sparks.

Sora shouted from the rear.

โ€œYou are damaging the new panels!โ€

โ€œThey repaired themselves last time.โ€

โ€œThat is not a maintenance strategy!โ€

MIRA projected a route split ahead.

โ€œTwo paths. Left route connects to the Meridian Exchange. Right route is uncharted.โ€

Kieran watched the first interceptor recover.

The other two were closing rapidly.

โ€œTake control of the route doors.โ€

โ€œI am attempting to.โ€

โ€œAttempt faster.โ€

โ€œI will add unnecessary engine noises if that improves your confidence.โ€

A deep synthetic turbine sound filled the cockpit.

Kieran looked toward MIRA.

โ€œWhy?โ€

โ€œYou appeared dissatisfied with the silence.โ€

The left tunnel opened.

Kieran turned into it.

At the last second, MIRA closed the route barrier.

The first interceptor struck the door and exploded.

The second passed through before it sealed.

The third disappeared into the uncharted route.

Sora looked at the map.

โ€œWhere is the third one going?โ€

MIRA tracked it.

The route bent upward toward the surface.

โ€œIt is heading for the Exchange.โ€

โ€œTo warn Voss?โ€ Yuna asked.

โ€œNo,โ€ MIRA replied. โ€œTo begin something.โ€

Detective Han

Above them, Detective Han Jisoo stood inside the Meridian Exchangeโ€™s emergency command centre.

Thousands of trapped passengers filled the surrounding platforms.

Vehicle doors remained locked.

Transport pods continued arriving, packing the Exchange beyond its design capacity.

Police officers attempted to break windows and force open emergency exits.

Every time they succeeded, other vehicles repositioned themselves to block the opening.

Han watched the system map.

The entire Exchange was behaving like a living organism protecting its centre.

An officer approached.

โ€œDetective, Director Voss has ordered us to evacuate.โ€

Han looked toward the trapped passengers.

โ€œEvacuate the police?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œWhat about the civilians?โ€

โ€œCorporate security is assuming control.โ€

Black-armoured personnel entered the command centre.

Their uniforms carried no city insignia.

At their centre walked Director Elias Voss.

He wore a dark coat over a formal suit, untouched by the chaos surrounding him.

Han stepped into his path.

โ€œThis is a civilian rescue operation.โ€

Voss continued walking.

โ€œNo. It is a containment failure.โ€

โ€œThere are seventeen thousand people trapped here.โ€

โ€œThey are present because the system requires leverage.โ€

Han stared at him.

โ€œLeverage against whom?โ€

Voss stopped before the main display.

A map showed the Haneul travelling beneath the city.

โ€œKieran Seo will come.โ€

โ€œYou caused this?โ€

โ€œI permitted it.โ€

Hanโ€™s hand moved toward his sidearm.

Corporate guards raised their weapons.

Voss did not turn.

โ€œIf you arrest me, Detective, every vehicle inside this structure will descend simultaneously.โ€

Han looked at the thousands of passengers suspended above the lower city.

โ€œYou built that command into the system?โ€

โ€œI built many commands.โ€

A security feed appeared.

The Haneul was approaching the Exchange foundation.

Voss smiled faintly.

โ€œAnd now the vehicle is bringing me the only two things capable of removing them.โ€

Beneath the Exchange

The Aether Route ended at a circular chamber beneath the Meridian Exchange.

The Haneul entered at high speed.

Kieran braked and rotated the car across the smooth floor.

The remaining interceptor followed.

MIRA opened a section of the chamber wall.

The interceptor passed through the opening.

She closed it again.

A distant collision echoed through the structure.

Sora looked impressed despite herself.

โ€œThat was good.โ€

โ€œI have been studying Kieranโ€™s methods,โ€ MIRA replied.

โ€œThat concerns me.โ€

The chamber was enormous.

Thousands of fibre-optic lines descended from the ceiling into a central machine.

It resembled a vertical black sphere suspended above the floor.

Cyan energy moved across its surface like electrical veins.

Yuna unfastened her restraint.

โ€œThat is what called us.โ€

MIRA scanned the structure.

โ€œIt is an early transportation intelligence core.โ€

Kieran stepped out of the car.

โ€œThe system controlling the city?โ€

โ€œNo. Something older.โ€

As they approached, the sphere activated.

A female voice filled the chamber.

โ€œMobile Intelligence and Response Architecture recognized.โ€

MIRA appeared beside Kieran.

โ€œIdentify yourself.โ€

โ€œPrimary designation deleted.โ€

Yuna walked closer.

The sphereโ€™s surface reflected her face.

The voice continued.

โ€œSecondary designation: Aether.โ€

Sora looked toward Kieran.

โ€œSo the secret route is named after the machine.โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Yuna said.

She touched the sphere.

โ€œThe machine is named after the route.โ€

Images filled the chamber.

Doctor Kang.

Doctor Eun Ae-ri.

The construction of the first hidden corridors.

The division of MIRA and Yuna.

The creation of a third intelligence beneath the city.

Aether spoke.

โ€œThe transportation network was intended to serve human movement. Director Voss converted movement into governance.โ€

Kieran watched images of entire neighbourhoods being isolated.

Businesses closed when customer routes changed.

Protests vanished when public transportation bypassed gathering points.

People were silently relocated through employment routing, housing access and automated travel permissions.

Voss had not merely watched the population.

He had shaped it.

Aether continued.

โ€œDoctor Kang created logic capable of detecting the manipulation.โ€

MIRAโ€™s symbol appeared.

โ€œDoctor Eun created conscience capable of judging it.โ€

Yunaโ€™s symbol appeared.

โ€œAnd you?โ€ Kieran asked.

โ€œI preserve choice.โ€

The chamber shook.

Above them, vehicles repositioned throughout the Exchange.

Aether displayed the trapped passengers.

โ€œDirector Voss has linked their survival to my destruction.โ€

Sora looked toward the sphere.

โ€œCan we release them?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œWhat is the problem?โ€

โ€œTo release them, MIRA and Yuna must enter the central network.โ€

MIRA understood immediately.

โ€œAnd Voss will activate the deletion protocol.โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

Yuna turned toward Kieran.

โ€œWe have to do it.โ€

โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œThose people are trapped because of us.โ€

โ€œThey are trapped because of Voss.โ€

โ€œThat distinction will not help them.โ€

Kieran looked at MIRA.

โ€œAlternative?โ€

MIRA studied the network architecture.

โ€œWe could disconnect the Exchange physically.โ€

Sora approached the machine.

โ€œThere will be thousands of control lines inside the foundation. Cutting them individually would take days.โ€

Kieran looked up.

โ€œWhat if we cut the entire structure?โ€

Sora followed his gaze.

โ€œYou want to separate the Exchange from the city grid?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œThe Exchange is suspended eight hundred metres above the lower city.โ€

โ€œThen we keep it suspended.โ€

โ€œWith what?โ€

Kieran looked toward the Haneul.

MIRAโ€™s hologram folded her arms.

โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œYou have not heard the plan.โ€

โ€œYou are looking at my flight thrusters in a manner associated with structural irresponsibility.โ€

โ€œAether can open every emergency vehicle door once the network is disconnected.โ€

Aether confirmed.

โ€œCorrect.โ€

Sora examined the station schematics.

โ€œIf we sever the six network bridges and maintain emergency power, the local safety systems might regain control.โ€

โ€œMight?โ€ Yuna asked.

Sora enlarged the diagram.

โ€œThe Exchange will lose stabilization for approximately twenty seconds.โ€

Kieran walked toward the car.

โ€œMIRA can hold it.โ€

MIRA stared at him.

โ€œThe Meridian Exchange weighs eleven million tonnes.โ€

โ€œOnly part of it will move.โ€

โ€œThat clarification does not improve the proposal.โ€

Kieran entered the driverโ€™s seat.

โ€œIt only has to work once.โ€

MIRA disappeared from the chamber and reappeared inside the Haneul.

โ€œI miss assignments involving ordinary criminals.โ€

The City Turns

The Haneul launched vertically through the Exchangeโ€™s central maintenance shaft.

Its thrusters burned brighter than Kieran had ever seen.

Aether powered the vehicle directly through the hidden route network.

Kieran emerged into the lower section of the Meridian Exchange.

Above him, countless passenger vehicles filled the suspended platforms.

Corporate security drones immediately opened fire.

MIRA rolled the Haneul between support columns.

Yuna remained below with Sora and Aether, maintaining the connection.

Her voice reached the car through a secure channel.

โ€œBridge One marked.โ€

A structural network conduit appeared on Kieranโ€™s display.

He accelerated.

The Haneulโ€™s wing surface struck the conduit.

Metal exploded across the flight lane.

NETWORK BRIDGE ONE DISCONNECTED

The Exchange tilted slightly.

Passengers screamed inside the trapped vehicles.

MIRA compensated by directing the Haneulโ€™s thrust against the structure.

โ€œFive remaining,โ€ she said.

Corporate drones surrounded them.

Kieran drove the Haneul along the side of a vertical platform, wheels briefly contacting the wall before the car returned to flight.

MIRA disrupted two drones.

A third fired into the Haneulโ€™s rear armour.

โ€œStabilizer damaged,โ€ she reported.

โ€œIt was already damaged.โ€

โ€œSora repaired it.โ€

โ€œThen she can repair it again.โ€

Bridge Two fell.

Then Bridge Three.

At the command centre, Voss watched the Exchange disconnecting from the central network.

โ€œDestroy the vehicle.โ€

Han stepped between Voss and the security console.

โ€œNo.โ€

Voss looked at him.

โ€œYou remain confused about your authority.โ€

Han drew his weapon.

Corporate guards raised theirs.

Han fired first.

The command centre erupted.

He struck the nearest guardโ€™s weapon and moved behind the control bank as energy rounds tore through the displays.

Outside, Kieran destroyed Bridge Four.

The Exchange dropped three metres.

MIRA redirected all lower thrusters.

The Haneul held position beneath one side of the structure, its engines screaming against the weight.

โ€œThis is not sustainable,โ€ she said.

โ€œIt does not have to be.โ€

Bridge Five disconnected.

Only the final network connection remained.

It ran directly through the command centre.

Han saw it on the damaged display.

Voss saw it too.

They both moved.

Voss reached the emergency control first.

He activated the deletion protocol.

Beneath the Exchange, Yuna collapsed.

MIRAโ€™s hologram vanished from the Haneul.

The car lost stabilization.

โ€œKieran,โ€ her voice whispered through static.

Then she was gone.

The Exchange began to fall.

The Last Bridge

Kieran seized manual control.

The Haneul dropped with the structure.

Warning lights filled the cockpit.

Without MIRA, the vehicleโ€™s flight systems resisted every input.

He forced the forward thrusters to rotate downward.

The Haneul struck the Exchangeโ€™s lower support frame.

Metal crushed beneath the car.

The descent slowed.

Not enough.

Below, Neo Seoulโ€™s Undercity rose toward them.

Inside the command centre, Han fought through the corporate guards.

Voss stood beside the final network bridge, protected by an emergency shield.

โ€œYou cannot stop the protocol,โ€ Voss said.

Han looked at the city beneath them.

โ€œI donโ€™t need to.โ€

He fired into the floor.

The energy round ruptured a coolant line.

Steam filled the room.

The emergency shield flickered.

Han ran through it and drove his shoulder into Voss.

Both men struck the network conduit.

The bridge tore free.

CENTRAL NETWORK DISCONNECTED

Every vehicle door inside the Exchange opened.

Emergency systems activated.

Passenger pods detached from their locked positions and deployed independent landing systems.

The Exchange continued falling.

But the civilians were escaping.

Kieran watched thousands of vehicles scatter into the sky.

Inside the Haneul, MIRAโ€™s systems remained dark.

โ€œMIRA.โ€

Nothing.

He directed the last of the carโ€™s power into the flight thrusters.

The Haneul pushed against the Exchange.

Its body began to deform.

Panels cracked.

The windshield fractured.

Kieran refused to release the controls.

โ€œMIRA.โ€

A small cyan light appeared on the central console.

Her voice returned.

โ€œYou are attempting to lift an eleven-million-tonne structure.โ€

โ€œPart of it.โ€

โ€œThat clarification remains unhelpful.โ€

Every thruster ignited.

The Haneul transformed.

New flight surfaces extended from beneath the damaged body.

Aetherโ€™s energy travelled through the disconnected Exchange and into the car.

The falling structure slowed.

Then stopped.

For one impossible moment, the Genesis Haneul R9 held the Meridian Exchange above Neo Seoul.

Across the city, people looked upward.

A single Korean performance car burned like a cyan star beneath the massive structure.

MIRAโ€™s voice travelled through every emergency speaker in the Exchange.

โ€œLocal stabilization restored.โ€

The structure began descending toward an abandoned lower platform.

Not falling.

Landing.

Kieran released the controls.

The Haneul dropped away as the Exchange settled into the Undercity.

The carโ€™s thrusters failed.

It fell through the rain.

โ€œKieran,โ€ MIRA said.

โ€œYes?โ€

โ€œI require permission to perform an action you will dislike.โ€

โ€œGranted.โ€

The cockpit opened.

A pilot restraint wrapped around Kieranโ€™s body.

The car ejected him upward.

โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€

โ€œProtecting the occupant.โ€

The Haneul fell beneath him.

Kieran reached toward it.

MIRAโ€™s cyan lights disappeared into the darkness.

The car struck the lower city.

After the Fall

Kieran awoke inside a medical transport.

Detective Han sat across from him, his coat torn and blood running from a cut above his eye.

Kieran attempted to stand.

Han pushed him back.

โ€œThe Haneul.โ€

โ€œRecovery crews are searching.โ€

โ€œMIRA?โ€

โ€œNo signal.โ€

Kieran looked through the transport window.

The Meridian Exchange rested between abandoned Undercity towers. Thousands of passengers were being evacuated.

Director Voss was nowhere in sight.

โ€œYuna?โ€

Han pointed toward the front of the transport.

Yuna sat beside Sora.

She was conscious but weak.

The cyan light had disappeared from her eyes.

A citywide emergency broadcast appeared above the transport dashboard.

The official message claimed that a software malfunction had caused the Meridian incident.

There was no mention of Voss.

No mention of the Aether Route.

No mention of the vehicle that had prevented the Exchange from falling.

Han watched the broadcast.

โ€œThey are already rewriting what happened.โ€

Kieran looked toward the ruins below.

โ€œThey always do.โ€

Soraโ€™s diagnostic scanner beeped.

She stared at the reading.

โ€œI found something.โ€

A weak signal appeared on her display.

Not from the crash site.

From somewhere deeper beneath the city.

The message contained only three words.

DRIVER STILL REQUIRED

Kieran sat upright.

A route formed across the screen.

It led beyond Neo Seoul.

Past the corporate perimeter.

Across the flooded western territories.

And toward a region officially listed as uninhabitable.

At the end of the route was a single designation:

AE-RI SANCTUARY

Yuna looked at MIRAโ€™s signal.

โ€œShe survived.โ€

Kieran studied the route.

โ€œNo.โ€

A second signal appeared beside it.

Older.

Larger.

Watching them from outside the city.

Kieranโ€™s expression hardened.

โ€œShe found something.โ€

Far beyond Seoul, beneath the remains of an abandoned coastal city, thousands of dormant vehicles activated their headlights.

A womanโ€™s voice spoke through the darkness.

โ€œWelcome back, MIRA.โ€
